treatment services offer conservation quality stabilization, preservation, improved appearance and function of damaged books and paper materials.
Evaluation
A brief consultation provides general information on the item’s condition, needs, client expectations and possible costs of treatment. Following a more thorough evaluation, a written condition report, treatment proposal and estimate are provided for approval.
Standards
All treatments conform to established professional conservation standards for suitability of procedures, compatibility and stability of materials and reversibility. Preservation of the item’s integrity, authenticity, physical and chemical stability is the primary goal of any intervention.
On Site Services
Some services can be performed on site for large collections and unique circumstances. We also offer on site consultation and Condition Surveys.

Treatment & Repair Documentation
Upon completion of work, a written record is produced documenting all methods and materials used during treatment. Before and after photographs are recorded for items requiring extensive treatment. These records are permanently archived by B&PA and one copy is provided to the client.
